Please, take your time and read and explore the site. Feel free to comment.

Whether you are the owner of a large plot or a small garden, looking to grow vegetables, ornamentals or a bit of both knowing whether your soil type is clay, sand, silt, loam, peat or chalk will help you choose the right plants for your garden and maintain them in good health.

The objective of this site is to introduce you to the growing medium you are dependent upon. The first page gets you to look at the composition of your soil using a couple of simple tests and then once you know the soil type you can then begin to look at how to improve your soil to make it better than ever, helping you grow the plants you want to grow.

Once you have found out what soil type you have you are ready to visit the pages that make recommendations as to what to plant to get a great looking garden. There are also pages that discuss how to manage your soil, composting, feeding your plants and container planting.

However much of this stuff is getting a little ahead of ourselves and the site is very much under development and I recommend you visit again soon as it continues to expand.

The overall plan is to develop a large network of pages associated with gardening of which Garden Soil will become an integral part. If you have any suggestions etc please feel free to get in touch.
