Plants and Soil

The properties of the different soil types obviously dictate what you can grow successfully as the soil controls nutrient and water availability and also the anchorage you are going to get. Of course I hope you have begun the process of improving the quality of your soil by adding plenty of nutrient rich organic matter and mulching the soil, however there are a lot of plants that will grow in the different soil types without much help.

The links below take you to pages that look at the plants that are available for the different soil types. There are a few other things that you may want to take into consideration though whilst planning your planting regime. Other environmental factors I think is the key one, for example how much sunshine do you get and how hot is it in the summer and how cold in the winter? You will need to check the suitability of the plants for growing in your part or the world.
